Master and Servant
The master writes continuously on the street for many decades, he wrote about the sovereignty of the city, the recognition of individual's identity against the government. The servant also serves her master faithfully for decades, wiping away all the mistakes her master made. This work is about Tsang Tsou Choi the King of Kowloon and I picked up on the idea of how his ink calligraphy appears and disappears in the city. Eventually I arrived at this idea of creating a drawing machine that performs automatic drawing on the sand and wiping away at the same time. The machine is on interactive sensor and would only operate when the viewer is standing in front of the work.
