ABOUT
Through his socially conscious experimental art, Wong has achieved significant recognition, notably with his 'Wandering Homes' project showcased at the 2008 Venice Architectural Biennale and his captivating 'Paddling Home' and 'Sleepwalker' installations featured at the Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism \ Architecture. His impactful political artworks, which captivated fellow protestors during Hong Kong’s July 1st protests and garnered both local and international media attention, successfully merged art and activism, expanding artistic boundaries. This dedication to innovative and meaningful work has been further acknowledged through prestigious accolades of awards.
For the past decade, Kacey has dedicated himself to connecting artistic creation with social activism, promoting the possibilities of political art to bring positive transformation and innovation to society. Initially, he participated in various Hong Kong protests with large props. As the Chinese Communist Party increasingly tightened its political control over Hong Kong, making demonstrations more dangerous, his later works have utilized body camouflage and role-playing. In 2021, pursuing 100% artistic freedom of expression, Kacey left Hong Kong and went into self-imposed exile in Taiwan, establishing an art studio in Taichung. Kacey continues to speak out for the human rights development of Hong Kong via his art creation overseas.
