Beacon of Freedom - Free Jimmy Lai Global Guerrilla Projection

This project documented artist Kacey Wong ridding his projection bicycle participating in the Beacon of Freedom - Free Jimmy Lai Global Projection Project on the evening of Jan/11/2026 at Taichung Citizen Square, Lennon Wall Tunnel, and National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taichung, Taiwan.

When a man who has dedicated his life to Hong Kong's democratic development is convicted on trumped-up charges by an unjust regime, subjected to endless political trials, and held in solitary confinement for a prolonged period, what can we—as ordinary people—really do?

Art can, in fact, achieve a great deal. Recently, I participated in the global "Beacon of Freedom—Free Jimmy Lai: Global Guerrilla Projection" campaign. We took the portrait of Jimmy Lai drawn by Badiucao, used AI to transform it into a short video, and projected it onto walls. Passersby can take thirty seconds to appreciate the work, projecting the concept of "release" into the world to spark reflection and resonance. On a personal level, we can also find a sense of inner relief through art. Never give up in the face of injustice; there is still much we can do. Perhaps the world will see positive change simply because of your artistic participation.

一個為了香港民主發展付出的人，被不義政權判上莫須有罪名，政治審判審完又審並且長時間被單獨禁錮監囚室，我們這些普通人能夠做些什麼？ 藝術其實可以做到很多，最近參加了全球發起「自由之光-釋放黎智英，全球游擊投影行動」，把「巴刁草」繪畫的黎智英肖像，運用AI改成短片，投射於牆壁上。 路過的行人可在30秒內細心欣賞，並把「釋放」這概念投射出去，引起反思及共鳴，個人內心也可以透過藝術得到一點點釋懷。面對不公不義切勿放棄，還很多事可以做，也許這世界會因為你的一點藝術參與，帶來正面的改變。
